Awful Trick by Al Cohen | The name is correct ... it is an awful trick! It was conceived as a gag but everyone said ... make it up and put it out...so here it is !! THE STORT: A fellow applies for citizenship to the U.S.A. He is standing before the judge who asks his the following "questions " what did you do in the old country ?" The fellow replies that he was a printer that specialized in printing business sards. He shows the judge 4 blank cards. The judge asks him to answer the following questions..."Name the first president of the U.S." The man correctly names George Washington. "Name the war between the States". The felllow replies "The Civil War". His Honor then asks him to give the name of the 200 year celebration taking place in 1976 .... The man thinks for a minute .... looks at the judge and says "Your Honor, I know what it is but I don't know how to say it may I show you with the 4 cards I am holding ?" The judge says "Please do" and the fellow proceeds to show each card blank on both sides and places them on the tab le. The Judge saya " I don't understand what you are trying to tell me". With this the applicant turns each card orer showing the BISON, the 10, the TELL. This puzzles the Judge for a minute he finally realizes the man means"BICENTENNIAL" !!!! "WOW" he says, "What Country are you from ?" The guy turns over the 4th card showing the word .... POLAND .... |

Back Flip by Sam Schwartz | This may be an "ultimate" version of Twisting The Aces in the sense that after the traditional effect is performed where four blue-backed Kings turn face up one at a time, the backs of the cards change from blue to red and then instantly change from red to green. Without constraints the problem can be solved in a number of ways including the use of a relatively large block of cards, repeated half-passes, packet switches, etc. Mr. Schwartz has devised a remarkably concise method which uses just six cards and a modified 4-as-4 count, nothing else. Here is an eye-popping routine and the repeat color change looks impossible. |

Blushing Joker by Bro. John Hamman | Three jokers are shown. The middle one is red, the blushing joker. AH three cards are blue backed, Vlhen the cards are dealt face down in a row on the table it is obvious that the center one is the red one, yet, although the two end ones are clearly shown not to be the red joker, the center one isn't either* The blush has vanished,Then the joker is once more placed between the other two and left to develope his blush, he turns red again. But when the three cards are dealt face down on the table and flipped face up, the blush has evaporated again. In order to make it easy for the spectators, the center joker is placed face up between the other two face down jokers. Then the cards are shown back and front and it seen that the center card is really double faced, with the ordinary joker on the top side and a red joker on the underside. The cards are then dealt on the table and everyone knows where the blushing joker is — on the back of the center face up card. The end cards are shown back and front and all is fair, yet when the spectator turns over the center card to see the "Blushing joker,"he finds it all right — it's a red backed card. This is a complete surprise to the spectator because time and time again he has watched you openly and freely deal three blue backed cards singly onto the table. He can even examine the cards and will find only three ordinary jokers, two blue backed and one red backed. |

Brainsrorm by Larry Becker | Anyone shuffles a deck of cards. The performer makes a prediction on a slip of paper ... folds and places it in an empty card case. A spectator removes the Joker (the only one in the deck) and shoves is FACE UP anywhere in the FACE DOWN deck. All the cards ABOVE the Joker are counted. The performer makes a second prediction on a slip of paper ... folds it .. and places it in the card case. Now, the card BELOW the Joker is noted. Both of the performer predictions are removed by the spectator and read aloud. They both prove to be 100% accurate. The performer has somehow predicted in advance how far down in the deck the Joker would be Inserted ... and also the Identity of the card immediately below the Joker. A DOUBLE PREDICTION that will completely baffle the most astute observer. The effect is simple... direct... and requires no skill. |

Magician shows first color and places it face down on the table. Then he shows the matching one and places that face up behind its mate. He continues this with the rest of the cards until he has two rows of cards... five face down with five face up behind it. Magician pairs them up, putting the face down colors face to face with its mate. He asks a spectator to try and name the five colors, sating that this can be done by anyone who is not COLOR BLIND. Color Monte by Phil Temple | Three cords are shown, two have red spots, one has a blue spot. Performer explains that this is a gambling game. If you can find the blue spot you win a dollar; if you're wrong, you lose a dollar. Performer is going to show how he got taken. He shows blue card on top- He turns it face down and places it on the bottom. When he shows bottom card, it's a red one. He shows top card... it's red. He shows middle one... it, too is red. This means so far that he has lost three dollars because every time he picks the card that he thinks is the blue one, he gets the red. So performer says, perhaps you think that I donm't even have a blue one. He shows that bottom card is now a blue one.. .so, he's lost another dollar. Then he says that if it's on the bottom, it can't be on top. Wrong again, because there it is. Then he shows it also in center. So tar, he's lost six dollars. Suspecting that the gambler is using more than three cards, he counts them on the table showing just three. Now he's lost seven dollars. So the gambler sows one card has blue spot, other has red. Tell color of third card and we're even. Performer says he was wrong again and ended up losing $14. Performer turns over third card as he says this and it has $14 printed on it. |

The face of one card then VANISHES leaving a five-card POKER hand. The hand is worthless, however, but when the cards are pushed through the hand, the Poker hand CHANGES to FOUR-OF-A-KIND. This he shows to be true and the Ace is obviously the Red backed card. The cards are again spread face up and he tells them the object is to pick one of the Blue back cards. This should be easy since the odds are 4 to 1 in favor. As an example, he removes the 10 and places it face up on the table. The 4 remaining cards are shown one at a time. They are all Blue Backed. He must have picked the Red card. He returns the 10 to the packet and now places the Queen face up on the table. The 4 remaining cards are shown and they are Blue. "We'll try one more time". Queen is returned to the packet and the Jack is placed face up on the table. He now explains that you could not find the Blue because he told a small lie. We do not have 4 Blues and 1 red..The cards are shown one at a time and they are all Red Backs. Spectator turns over the Jack and it is niether Red or Blue but has an entirely different back. Four Card Monte by Sam Schwartz TO BE REDONE |
Four cards are spread showing three 3 of H and an A of S between them. The magician remarks that he wants to show a 3-card monte so he discards one of the threes. This leaves the Ace showing between the two remaining 3's.. Turning the cards face down, he removes the bottom 3, shows it front and back, and places it again on the bottom. He then removes the other 3, shows it front and back, and places it on top. Now he spreads the three cards face down and asks the spectator to tell where the A of S is located. Regardless of the answer he shows all three cards to be the 3 of H . Finally, the discard is turned face up and it proves to be Ace of Spades. |
