THE NEYHART HOULETTE (1930)

only $500.00 The dream of every magician is to design a means by which any card called for (without any pre arrangement or set-up) would rise from the deck conveniently held in a small houlette held in the hand. Many magicians and builders have tried to do this over the years but only one man created such an effect and marketed it in the late 1930's. It was A. P. Neyhart, a American consulting engineer based in Los Angeles, California. He invented an apparatus that overcame the problem of having ANY CARD called for by the spectators rise gracefully from the houlette held on one hand. No electronics were involved and the design is a mechanical marvel In the book, HILLIARD'S GREATER MAGIC, the author devotes several pages to the working, handling and presenting the Neyhart Houlette. Only a few models of this revolutionary apparatus were made using a plastic compound called Bakeltie and because the working of the effect required care and concern, most magicians stuck to their threaded decks to accomplish the rising card effect.
